What is at stake for children without their father.

About Us

We build bridges.

We are a non-profit association that primarily offers assistance to men and children, but of course also mothers in difficult life situations – especially in cases of separation, contact rights and violence prevention.
Many parents otherwise find no space where they are heard, taken seriously and supported.
Women can also turn to us if they need specific support in the area of contact rights. We work with a mixed team and support every person who seeks help.
Our goal: a fair, objective and solution-oriented collaboration for everyone involved, and ideally even before an escalation or legal dispute arises.

Our Values

Our association is committed to conflict prevention at an early stage as well as the careful reconciliation of parents with their children after separation conflicts – always with a focus on the child's best interests. Through conversations, mediation, supervised visitation and psychosocial support, we create safe spaces in which trusting relationships can develop (or redevelop).

Politically, we deliberately position ourselves nowhere – we are neither left nor right. If anything, we are lobbyists – but exclusively for one single group: children.

100 % independent: We are a pure NGO – without grants, subsidies or public funds. Financed exclusively through donations and volunteer work.

Impartial mediation ......... Respect and empathy, appreciative treatment of everyone involved

Impartial mediation .........

Clear communication of processes and goals ....

Long-term solutions instead of short-term compromises....

Our Activities

Recent Projects

Die Bruderschaft pursues six interlocking concepts that understand child welfare and equal parental responsibility as a task for society as a whole – from acute crisis intervention to European legal reform.

The Men's House offers men in separation crises a safe point of contact for initial orientation ...before violence arises.
We offer a counterbalance to the countless victim protection facilities for women, in order to give men, especially in psychological states of emergency, support. The Award makes businesses visible that take responsibility for children. The Shared Residence Initiative anchors equal parental responsibility in law. The System Umbrella Organization combines initiatives into a common voice. The Prevention Module intervenes early in family situations at risk of escalation. Fact-based public relations work shifts the societal narrative – because it affects. Everyone.

Objective, fact-based public relations work forms the sixth pillar: We shift the societal narrative from assigning blame toward responsibility and problem-solving competence. Through media work, awareness campaigns and political communication we create broader awareness – because it affects. Everyone.

The System Umbrella Organization combines initiatives scattered across Austria and Europe into a common voice – with a clear political address and coordinated presence towards legislation, media and civil society. It connects existing structures without absorbing them, and strengthens collective effectiveness.

Our contact points worldwide

The Prevention Module intervenes early in family situations at risk of escalation – before the system takes over. It combines low-threshold counseling, standardized risk assessment and targeted intervention to de-escalate separation conflicts before they burden children, authorities and courts.

The Shared Residence Initiative advocates for a modern child law that anchors equal parental responsibility as the legal guiding model – with clear protective limits in cases of violence and consistent prevention of contact breakdowns. The initiative works at the Austrian and European level on a legal reform that structurally safeguards the child's best interests.

The Men's House offers men in acute separation crises a safe, low-threshold point of contact – and prevents escalations before they permanently burden families and children. It creates space for stabilization, legal guidance and initial psychosocial support, without those affected having to immediately navigate a complete support system.

The Award makes businesses visible that deliberately take responsibility for children and young people in everyday life – whether through family-friendly working hours, active support for fathers or awareness-raising within the company. It creates positive incentives and social recognition for companies that put responsibility into practice.

Voices from our members

Die Bruderschaft "is particularly recommendable, because they fight for justice! Fathers receive professional advice, since children too have the right, in cases of divorce, to see their father!
Die Bruderschaft gives families in difficult times orientation, support and a voice. Fast, human, objective, priority on the child's best interests. If necessary, a short-term contact plan is drawn up
As Mattei's father, I find the Brotherhood great: networking, exchange and activities with other separated parents provide support.
